Job Description

• Ensure that all codes are current and active
• Receive and review patient charts and documents for accuracy
• Report missing or incomplete documentation
• Performs internal audit/review as directed. Meet daily coding production.
• Update and maintain documentation related to specialty instructions
• Provide the resolution of coding-related queries on a run-time basis
• Ensure proper coding on provider documentation to Performs accurate charge entries
• Serves as a resource to resolve insurance queries and coding questions
• Follows coding guidelines and legal requirements to ensure compliance with federal and state regulations
• Provide LCD/NCD guidelines as required. Cross-check the CCI/NCCI edits prior to submission
• Performs additional duties assigned by the coding manager as needed

Medical Coder Qualifications

• Must have a Bachelor’s degree in the following domains: MBBS, BDS, PHARM-D, Botany, Zoology, Biotechnology (Masters) or any other relevant field
• Maintain coding certification and attends in-service training as required
• At least having two years of medical coding experience
• Must have a sound knowledge of ICDCM, CPT and HCPCS codes
• Understanding of medical terminologies, anatomy, and physiology
• Ability to work independently or as an active member of a team
• Strong computer skills & knowledge of Electronic Medical Record software and Microsoft Office
• Accurate and precise attention to detail related to CMS Guidelines
• Ability to multitask, prioritize, and manage time efficiently
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
